Unfortunately, most training courses for bomb technicians, even if called “intermediate” or “advanced” are really just familiarization training.
Render Safe Technologies offers the following skills development courses:
Advanced Manual-Techniques and Hand-Entry
When most bomb technicians think about hand-entry, sometimes referred to as manual-entry, meaning not using not using a general disruption technique to get into a device or package, they think about cap diagnostics and calculating circuit speeds. And that’s fine once you get into a package, or if wires are hanging outside of a device, but what if they are not? How confident are you in getting through various barrier materials, and knowing what tools work best to gain access through what materials? What are the first signs that an anti-penetration or anti-tamper switch has been built into a device?
Advanced X-Ray Diagnostics
What if you actually had to x-ray a device, perform diagnostics based on that x-ray, and then drill or cut your way into the package? How good are you at actual x-ray diagnostics? Sure, you may be great at identifying a mercury switch on an x-ray, but how about an accelerometer, or other inexpensive miniature sensor module? Can you identify the items below?
